VIDEO: “F.u.t.u.r.e.” – Khingz

Another dramatic clip from the homie Khingz, this time for “F.u.t.u.r.e.” off last year’s Liberation of the Monster, available here.

VIDEO: “Feeding My Flame” – Avatar Young Blaze (dir. by Jon Augustavo)

Avatar Young Blaze as the baby-faced вампир. Some fairly compelling, if not heinous, storytelling here by Av and frequent video collaborator JonJon.

VIDEO: “Let It Be” – Dyme Def (dir. by The Note)

This track is at least six years old, but seems to resonate around Town more than any other Dyme Def song to date. The Note picks up the HD for directorial duties.

VIDEO: “Beginning” – Clemm Rishad

Tacoma’s Clemm Rishad is one half of the Writers Block, a duo responsible for penning some of your favorite KUBE 93 rotation fodder. He’s got a burgeoning solo hustle, too. “Beginning” is his latest video.

VIDEO: “Marathon” (live on The Underground Railroad) – CopperWire

CopperWire (Gabriel Teodros x Meklit Hadero x Burntface) came through for a performance and interview segment on The Underground Railroad, the legendary hip-hop show on New York’s WBAI radio. The first voice you hear in the interview (other than host Jay Smooth’s) is that of the SEA’s own Gabriel Teodros. A very nice look for CopperWire and hopefully the sign of even greater exposure for the groundbreaking crew.

VIDEO: “City Lights” – Farid Xan and Ducci

Farid Xan’s The Sandlot: Collective LP dropped nearly one year ago, but the video for “City Lights” just saw the light of YouTube today. Peep 253 game and revisit the album here and below.

VIDEO: “Uh…No” – Katie Kate (dir. by Stephan Gray)

Do-it-all producer/rapper/singer Katie Kate with her latest clip, directed by Stephan Gray. Kate’s Flatland is out now via Out For Stardom.

VIDEO: “All Do It (Live)” – Th3rdz

Th3rdz jump-off live from the basement again. This time for “All Do It.”

DOWNLOAD & VIDEO: “Honor” – Fearce & BeanOne

Multinational conglomerate Yuk The World has added skater Joe Andrews to its team. I’m not entirely sure what that means but I’m sure it will add up to something pretty awesome. Speaking of awesome: below is a video clip of Joe doing his thing around Town with the latest track from Fearce Villain and BeanOne, “Honor,” providing the buttery soundtrack in the background. Download the joint above and below.

VIDEO: “I See You Lookin’” – John Crown (dir. by Detooz Films)

No moss gathered on the rolling stone John Crown. No neck beard on dude, either. Off that Coffee and Beats joint which you can find below.

VIDEO: “Avengers Assemble” – Ripynt

If life were a musical, Ripynt’s would rotate on an Avengers-centered axis.

VIDEO: “Therapy (Live)” – Th3rdz

Live performance treatment of “Therapy” by Th3rdz. I wish this album from the soon-to-be legendary Oldominion crew would just hurry up and drop already.

VIDEO: “Godzilla Gatorade” – Khingz

New video from Khingz’s Liberation of the Monster. This is my favorite track off that album, those pounding pianos sounding all vintage Dogg Pound circa 1995.

VIDEO: “4 Horsemen” – Champagne Champagne

Champagne Champagne might be the biggest SEA hip-hop act in the land right now. (Not named Shabazz or Macklemore, of course). They’re in France. They’re on the Vans Warped Tour. They’re on the phone with your girl right now. Seriously — you better go check.

VIDEO: “Swerve…The reeping of all that is worthwhile (Noir not withstanding)” (Live @ SOB’s NYC) – Shabazz Palaces

Shabazz Palaces made their triumphant return to New York City this month, performing two bill’s worth of shows at SOB’s and Brooklyn Bowl. This is an interview and performance clip from the former venue, courtesy of the tastemaker you love to hate, Pitchfork.

VIDEO: “Rock That S#!+” – Kublakai (dir. by Adam J. Dunn)

The latest video from Kublakai off last summer’s The Basics 2. Kub is soon to be on tour with One Be Lo. Go here to find your town.

VIDEO & DOWNLOAD: “Green Butter” (feat. Rogue Venom) & “Magic Milk” – dr.Oop

#Blunted

206UP.COM missed the 4/20 party yesterday (probably because your dude don’t smoke — ah well). Thanks to MC dr.Oop though for linking me to his hot boxed clip for “Green Butter” (featuring Rogue Venom), released a couple years back on The Grateful Dread LP.

The MC also just made public the follow-up track, “Magic Milk,” which keeps it on the rap-as-recipe tip. Listen closely for how to make magic happen in your kitchen. Both (ahem) joints were produced by the esteemed EarDr.Umz.

VIDEO: “Nu Tang” – Nu Era (feat. Kung Foo Grip) (dir. by Detooz Films)

Nu Era is a local rap conglomerate composed of three MCs from various groups including Dyno Jamz, Hush’d Puppies and 5 and Brown. Go here to learn more.

Detooz Films blesses the crew with a hyped and raw video for their track “Nu Tang” (featuring 425 cul de sac spitters, Kung Foo Grip). Lyrical miracles abound. Get Nu Era’s debut album, Sink or Swim, below. I like this shit right here.

VIDEOS: “Bad Boy” – Big Bang & “Alone” – Sistar

“Bad Boy” – Big Bang

“Alone” – Sistar

Fuck it, it’s Friday and I’ll do what I want. Especially with three happy hour brews in me and my friend Allen (of SSG Music and DJ/co-host of the burgeoning JK Pop dance party night in the SEA — coming soon to a preferred venue near you) hipping me to music heretofore, how you say? “Foreign” to me.

I like these videos because they remind me of the 90s (awesome) and because they remind me of myself (every time I look in the mirror). Asian Americans have a tendency to forget that just because we live in a country that prefers us to stay grinding behind computer screens and grand pianos, doesn’t mean we can’t be sexy, outlandish, and, best of all, BAD. The sound of these two K-pop crews might be the sound of aped American culture, but it’s also the sound of our efficient and well-engineered vehicle veering far out of its designated lane.

Standardize test THIS, ma’fuckas.

VIDEO: “QueenS” – THEESatisfaction (dir. by dream hampton)

Having the inimitable dream hampton direct your very first music video is, you know, a pretty cool thing. THEESatisfaction received just that treatment for their “QueenS” from the excellent awE naturalE.

VIDEO: “Phone Home” – CopperWire

The first video from CopperWire’s Earthbound (which dropped yesterday). I just wrote a little bit about this crew, go here to read it.

VIDEO: “Victory Lap” – Macklemore & Ryan Lewis

Career retrospective-type videos come a lot faster in the internet age, don’t they? Not even two LPs deep yet and Mack and RL got one. Would seem a little dubious if shit weren’t so dope…

(Get the 2012 XXL Freshman Mixtape, here.)

VIDEO: “The Taste of Heaven” – PROPS (dir. by Paul Maupoux)

Check out the latest video from area MC PROPS, “The Taste of Heaven.” The most creative, visually stunning music video from any SEA-based artist not named Shabazz Palaces. Give this a look, it’s worth the time, folks.

From the upcoming High As The Stars: The Planet of MARz mixtape, hosted by Vitamin D, coming early summer.

VIDEO: “Honor Roll” – Dave B. (prod. by Kuddie Fresh; dir. by Avi Loud)

Kuddie Fresh-blessed beat for Dave B’s latest, “Honor Roll.”
