The Physics deliver yet another well-rounded and accomplished album in Tomorrow People. Read my thoughts here.
Peta Tosh and Detooz Films collab for a video from Peta’s The Takeoff Part 2 which you can grab here.
As promised, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis released the video today for the team’s new single, “Thrift Shop” (featuring Wanz). Good nature and humor abound in this clip about finding treasures among trash. Go here to buy the track.
This drop snuck past me over the weekend. Actually, a lot of stuff has been sneaking past me lately as my writing energies have been focused elsewhere. Pardon me while I play ketchup, ahem, catch-up.
Eighty4 Fly with a new mixtape, Colors, which you’ve probably already seen drops from over the last couple of months. Go here for the download and bump it in your favorite whip.
The Physics released their third full-length, Tomorrow People, this past Saturday. I won’t say much here because there’s a full review in the works that will run soon over at a national outlet. If you call yourself a fan of Seattle hip-hop, then this is required listening (that should go without saying but fuck it, I’ll say it again). For my money, The Physics are the best crew in Town doing it. Purveyors of class and panache and possessing exceptional skills on the mic, in the studio, and on stage. Here’s hoping Tomorrow People is the record that will move this group beyond the humble bounds of Seattle and into the national rap conversation.
Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’ grass-rooted fans are eager for the release of October’s The Heist (and accompany massive world tour — no, really, it’s going to be huge). For now though spin through “Thrift Shop” the new light-hearted single about the joys of bargain hunting featuring Wanz.
At first glance Sam Lachow and Raz seem like an odd pair for a collaboration. Cast expectations aside, however, for their new track, “Nothing’s Gonna Change,” the first drop from the duo’s upcoming 5 Good Reasons EP (September 17). Everything works here, from the live instrumentation to the chemistry between the two MCs.
