Theoretics with their latest One A Month drop, “Paper Mache” featuring The Bad Tenants. We’re a little late on this — it arrived as a Halloween eve loosie — but the playful, Scooby Doo-scarehouse vibe is still applicable as we enter the darker (and colder) first week of November.

NEW MUSIC: Seaplane – Jake One
Your annoying friend who’s trying to become a rapper probably spent all weekend writing rhymes over this Jake One beat tape. Either that or he just got high and watched football while this played in the background.
NEW MUSIC: Was And It Will Be – Ricky Pharoe & Phreewil
MC Ricky Pharoe and MC/producer Phreewil put in proverbial work on their new Was And It Will Be. The two gentlemen of rap leisure hold grudges and dream big from the bottom over a pu pu platter of boom-bap beats — that sounds like a negative critique but I assure you it’s not. Guests Jewels Hunter and Tru ID are worthy invitees and the only two rappers other than the principles that don’t get shitted on. Tell a friend.
NEW MUSIC: Life Sucks – Martis
The artist formerly known as Caz Greez comes correct with a new album, Life Sucks, featuring the now-trademarked otherworldly rap steez of Underworld Dust Funk. Martis — as he’s now preferring to be called — enlists producers Khrist Koopa, Trowa Barton and Cooli Sledge to assist in the descent.
NEW MUSIC: Evidence Of Things Not Seen – Gabriel Teodros & SoulChef
Gabriel Teodros (MC) and SoulChef (producer) connect time zones and worldly perspectives on their new collaboration, Evidence Of Things Not Seen. Gabe recorded his lyrics in Seattle, Toronto and Quebec; and SoulChef cooked the beats in Auckland, New Zealand. See it come together live on November 6 at Columbia City Theater where GT will mark the occasion by releasing a limited-edition lyric book along with the CD. Also watch for the 28Hundred interview with Gabe, dropping tomorrow (Wed., 10/29).
NEW MUSIC: “Aura” – La (prod. by Jester)
A loosie from one of the Town’s best MCs. La — and frequent collaborator Jester — go solar psychedelic on “Aura.”
NEW MUSIC: Able’s Filthy Fingers – Able Fader
Low-key genius DJ Able recently dropped his first ever EP, Able’s Filthy Fingers, an eight track collection of sample-heavy turntablism and dusty percussion. It threads the needle wonderfully between pop culture kitsch and humble deference to the art form of hip-hop. Check it out below.
And hey while you’re at it, pull yourself out of that internet k-hole and catch Able doing his live thing at two monthlies: (((The Jam))) at Vermillion on Capitol Hill and the Black Magic Noize showcase and cypher Spitfire Saturdays at Dante’s in the U-District.
NEW MUSIC: “Greeny Jungle” – Gabriel Teodros & SoulChef (feat. Shakiah)
Seattle’s righteous son Gabriel Teodros and New Zealand’s own SoulChef are preparing to release their album Evidence Of Things Not Seen on October 28. “Greeny Jungle” (featuring Shakiah) is fearful and optimistic in a single tranquil breath.
NEW MUSIC: 199YUK – Yukmob
Herein bumps one of the most satisfying listens you’ll come across this calendar year. BeanOne and his Yukmob team (that’s: Fearce Vill, SEV, Romaro Franceswa, Davey Jones, and Cazsh, but who’s counting?) with a new mixtape called 199YUK. Bean reworks a grip of classic beats and samples — from you-know-what decade — into fresh instrumentals for his motheryukkers to recite new raps over. Everything is seamless and each track elicits an iPod search for the original source material. Even better is the communal kinship the “crew tape” format generates (ala classic team-ups like the Wu, Westside Connection, The Firm, and Seattle’s own Massline [RIP], for that matter).
