Sportn’ Life Records continues its run of drops in celebration of their 10-year anniversary. Here, Spac3man hops on a DJ Phinisey beat for “The Flyest.” Brag rap shit (ho-hum). Listen / download below. While you’re at it, make sure to check out Phinisey’s solo LP too.

NEW MUSIC: “Brim Low” – Second Family
Tacoma’s Second Family is street rap exemplified. One of the best representatives of that sound the Pacific Northwest has to offer. The crew has two new projects coming up, Excellence of Execution and Grit City. “Brim Low” is the first preview from those efforts.
NEW MUSIC: “Boom” – Bambu (prod. by Jake One)
“Boom” is the latest drop from Bam’s One Rifle Per Family and it was produced by Seattle’s own Jake One. New York fam take note: the LA rapper is in town tomorrow performing at S.O.B.’s as part of his Rent Money Tour. Tickets here.
NEW MUSIC: “I’m @ The Ocean Kid” – Don’t Talk To The Cops!
The press emails from Don’t Talk To The Cops! read like their songs sound: overflowing with exclamations, lousy with strategic emphasis, and more than a little haphazard — all good things. Stimulate your feet with “I’m @ The Ocean Kid,” more of that “raw punk dancing swamp music” (their words) on this day before TGIF.
NEW MUSIC: “Tell Me” – Nissim, Fatal Lucciauno, Spac3man, & Larry Hawkins (prod. by Vitamin D)
A couple of big things are happening in the Sportn’ Life camp in the coming months. First off, the label celebrates its first decade in business with a blowout party at Barboza on November 21 (check for more details here). Secondly, you knew D. Black couldn’t stay away for long didn’t you? Real MCs gotta spit, it’s the laws of physics, and the man formerly known as Black has an eight-song EP in the works for a February 2013 release. Catch him as Nissim on this new joint, “Tell Me”, and the upcoming album, My Life My Love.
NEW MUSIC: Phinisey – DJ Phinisey
DJ Phinisey is a name you might not be familiar with but should be. The man has done board work for a number of local artists (Tacoma compatriot, Rockwell Powers, being one of the most formidable) and he’s been known to croon a few bars when the beat calls for it, as well. Phinisey is his first solo release and features a healthy guest list of 206/253 talent: Grynch, RA Scion, Luck-One, John Crown, and Dice among them. Stream it and download for free below.
VIDEO: “Never Cool Off” – Avatar Darko (dir. by Jon Jon)
New shit from Avatar Dark (formerly Young Blaze). The video for “Never Cool Off” was directed by Jon Augustavo and features cameos from a host of SEA rap royalty. Off Av’s latest, Soviet Goonion. How clever. Get gooned here.
NEW MUSIC: “Illuminate” – J. Pinder (feat. Choklate; prod. by Kuddie Fresh)
“Illuminate” is the first single from J. Pinder’s upcoming Careless Redux mixtape, hosted by DJ Skee (free on 11/13/12). Choklate lends her pipes and Kuddie Fresh his drums.
VIDEO: “Sir Lancelot” – Thaddeus David (feat. Nacho Picasso & Avatar Darko; dir. by Jon Jon)
This is by far the gloomiest we’ve ever seen Thaddeus David. Not surprising though considering the company he’s keeping. Medieval misfit Nacho Picasso and trap monster Avatar Darko (formerly “Young Blaze”) with the cameos. Jon Jon’s expert lens work sets the mood. TH’s latest, Trapital Trill, available below.
