Seattle rap upstart Ryan Caraveo dropped this pop-rap ditty to all the tatted-up cool girls in our midst. At some point I blinked and the hipster aesthetic became status quo. For those women (and men) who still find themselves living ink free (and stubbornly): You will have your redemption — those Williamsburg firebrands who made it en vogue are now pushing strollers through McCarren Park and sprouting gray hairs from beneath their slouchy hats. Golden retrievers and West Elm furniture are a hell of an equalizing force.
Watch for Ryan’s Swings coming soon.
Moor Gang crew member Cam The Mac with a new video drop. “Lord” was filmed in front of a live turnt audience. Track produced by Petty Pro off Cam’s upcoming Wise & Weeded.
A very dope look from Aaron Cohen. “Ain’t Shit” was produced by Kemal and the (almost) one take video was directed by Goldrush. From Aaron’s You Wouldn’t Know EP, streaming below.
The LakeHouse Ent. family gathered recently for their second annual Slip & Slide BBQ at Madrona Park in celebration of the release of their new LP, the Budztape. Resident Lake historian Roof Dogg took the opportunity to film two videos: “Timbo” which appears on Mo’ Money’s Everybody Needs A Lil Mo’ Money, and “Bloated” off the new Budztape. As with everything LakeHouse, the clips are delightfully low-fi and a real bargain at a two-for-one price. #Splash.
From the recesses of the deep underground Pacific Northwest rap scene, Mostafa (MC) and Deep Lemon (producer) with their new video “Our Dream” from their full-length collab, Calendar Year Vol. II.
Lo Down’s is a voice you’ve probably never heard before. Dyllyn Greenwood directed “Gone,” the first video by this up-and-coming Seattle rapper, and DJ Vega produced the track. You can grab it for free here if you’re feeling it.
From the depths of the neglected email inbox: Ripynt’s latest, A Beautiful Funeral. More hard-edged, technically proficient, big beat and synth hardcore from the North End native. Rapper, producer and studio engineer Carl Roe again rides shotgun throughout this 18-track effort. Worth your time.
And check out the music video/short film for the track “Never Give It Up.”
Ethiopian filmmaker Shimby constructed this gorgeous vignette using a 16mm camera and zero digital effects. The track, “Black Love,” is a previously released joint by Town fixture Gabriel Teodros and producer SoulChef; their Evidence of Things Not Seen is set to drop October 28. Sarah MK lends her vital vocals to this smoothed-out, sensual track.
New song, new video from Raz Simone. “Cheap Money” was directed by Stephan Gray and from Raz’s forthcoming Cognitive Dissonance: Part 2.
