VIDEO & DOWNLOAD: “These Songs” – Rockwell Powers & ILL Pill

Shout-out to the homies Rockwell Powers and ILL Pill for dropping this new joint in the 206UP.COM Inbox. From their forthcoming Kids in the Back 2 (look for it April 2011). Conscious and positive, Rockwell does good things for the 2-5-3.

VIDEO: “All That Fire” – J. Pinder

J. Pinder prepares for a Code Red re-up (watch for ver. 2.0 coming 1.25.11) with another good look on the visuals. Beat courtesy of Jake One. Gas for the whip courtesy of the Valero station on Rainier. Makes me miss the South End. *Sigh*

VIDEO: “My Oh My” – Macklemore & Ryan Lewis

Check the visuals below for Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’ tribute to the late Dave Niehaus. Click here for my weepy nostalgia trip.

(It pains me to think Ken Griffey Jr.’s subsequent injuries had anything to do with the gang-tackling/dog-piling he received at home plate after Gar’s game-winning double. I’m sure that’s an unreasonable conclusion.)

VIDEO: “Let’s Ride” – Air 2 A Bird

The world is round and we’re not really driving it. So says Air 2 A Bird in their debut video for “Let’s Ride.” The brainchild of Gabriel Teodros and Amos Miller, Air 2 A Bird was the result of a serendipitous (if not totally unexpected) unification of the two artists in Brooklyn, when original plans would have had them circumnavigating that previously referenced world. SEA hip-hop is all the better for it. Peep their fly game:

Happy Holidays from 206UP.COM!

It doesn’t really matter what winter holiday you celebrate, if any. (I happen to celebrate Christmas. My girl celebrates Hanukkah. My brother celebrates neither. Whatever, it’s all good.)

206UP.COM just hopes this finds you happy and surrounded by the people and music that you love. And with that, I’ll let Run DMC and the Peanuts gang take it from here…

Note: A Charlie Brown Christmas apparently came before the Peanuts crew added Peppermint Patty (a lesbian — okay, presumably), Franklin (a black kid) and Jose (a Mexican-Swedish kid — who knew??) to the mix. I love Peanuts, but would it have been too much to add an Asian kid? Just sayin’…

VIDEO & DOWNLOAD: SSHH!! EP – Hushd Puppies

Never heard these cats until I caught wind of them over on Andrew Matson’s excellent Seattle Times blog, Matson on Music. Their brand of slacker/stoner/college dude rap would be tiring if it weren’t for the duo’s legitimate microphone skills and well-attuned ear to 90’s West Coast underground.

Check the entertaining clip for the break-up track, “Nothing At All” below, then download the crew’s free EP, SSHH!! at their Bandcamp space, here.

VIDEO: “Flash The Message” – B.O.S.S.

Here’s a crew you may not be hip to yet. B.O.S.S. (Building Our Success Story, for those of you who aren’t into the whole brevity thing). This clip popped up in the Inbox this morning and was a pleasant surprise. The three-man crew, whose members hail from Seattle, Southern California and Romania (!!!), are on some thugged-out love song sh-t here. I appreciate that.

VIDEO: “Born in 86 (Preview)” – EvergreenOne

#253UP. EvergreenOne goes ahead and breaks you off with a little bit of that preview. My favorite thing about this Tac-town cat is his nostalgic sensibility. The last time heads saw EvergreenOne in HD, he was waxing poetic about “90’s Shit.”

Best line here: “Wear my daddy’s letterman/Hopin’ that he can hear me now.” It’s sentimental and real, which I’m a sucker for. Solo album from EvergreenOne coming soon.

VIDEO: “French” – Tyler The Creator (of Odd Future)

OFWGKTA might be the future of hip-hop. They are definitely the future of America. And “the future” is a hella scary place. (But we been knowin’ that.)

Download Tyler’s Bastard, here. It’s Cali sh-t. But the place of origin really doesn’t matter in the long run…
