New hair, new steez. Avatar Darko with a new video directed by Avi Loud. Too many “Chinese Tacos” before bedtime and you end up crashing out in the bed of your El Camino. The beat(s) — and video — are a beast: somewhere between a nightmare and a beautiful sunset.
Much thanks to Aaron Walker-Loud of Big World Breaks (and many other artistic Town endeavors) for hipping 206UP to this event. The Legacy of Seattle Hip-Hop is being billed as “an active exploration of culture, history and justice through interactive performance, film, a community panel discussion, art and other hands-on activities”. Learn more about the event here, and go here to watch the 50 Next: Seattle Hip-Hop Worldwide documentary which will screen publicly for the first time.
Whew. And if that wasn’t enough, peep a video below by one of the event’s featured performers: “The Hood Ain’t The Same” by Draze.
Catch The Physics in the lab (no, really, Justo in an actual laboratory) and on stage in this dope mini-doc by directors Avi Loud and Robin Park.
Here’s something worthwhile: Sam Lachow (NYC by way of SEA) and Raz (one of the Town’s finest new voices) collaborate for 5 Good Reasons, a pentagonal collection of wide-ranging party- and street-life numbers. Sam is a legitimate musical force to be reckoned with and Raz is worthy of all local hype bestowed thus far. Together they’ve crafted a remarkably thoughtful EP that I would count among the region’s best this year. Get it for free here.
UPDATE (1:15 pm PST, 9.24.12): The duo just dropped the latest video from the EP. “Coyotes” was directed by Sam Lachow, Raz and Avi Loud. Peep game below.
Dave B is a new kid on the scene. Linking with established producers KD Cutz, Tryfe and Kuddie Fresh, his full-length (and un-Googleable-y titled) album MCMXCII (that’s 1992 for those of you not up on your Roman numeral game) dropped today. Click through the images above for the download.
Below check out his most recent video for “Honor Roll” (directed by Avi Loud) and catch Dave opening for Brothers From Another at the Crocodile on July 29.
Antbeezy got that first hi-def (along with a gang of 206 cameos) courtesy of director Avi Loud. Everything looks and sounds lovely on this clip for “Dreams To Make It.” Go get ’em young lion.
Kuddie Fresh-blessed beat for Dave B’s latest, “Honor Roll.”
