I don’t know much about Peta Tosh, a local MC who appears to be hustling hard (based on the number of press emails I get from his camp anyway). He enlisted local video veteran Detooz Films for this clip, “Interlude,” a track available on the artist’s last EP, Different (get that below). A little Twitter told me a new ‘tape from the MC is coming soon called The Take Off Part 2, so if you dig his style watch for that.

VIDEO: “The Crown” – The Good Sin & 10.4 Rog (dir. by Detooz Films)
Late, the EP collaboration between MC The Good Sin and producer 10.4 Rog, is one of the best local releases of the year. It’s a type of musical awakening for these two artists, both highly-respected within the area code but relatively little known outside of its tight-knit community.
It’s only right then that the video for “The Crown” moves beyond the SEA. Here we see Sinseer on a trip to Southern California, going to rock with Blue Scholars and Bambu on their recently concluded tour. As fellow performers (The Physics, Brothers From Another) endeavor to keep an exhausted Sinseer from dozing off, it’s a young girl from the ubiquitous Occupy movement that gets in the final word — a nice touch of immediacy from the ever-improving John Harry Baluran of Detooz Films.

Young cats love hot girls that play video games and blow trees. Man, I’m off that. Non-profit, post-colonial literary geeks are my grown-man BI. I kid, though, there’s always room for the juvenile. Sam Lachow’s “Hash Muffins” clip is weed rap playfully sex-ified.
What I want to know is how does Detooz Films manage to get around so much these days? Oh, right, human cloning.

John Harry Baluran of Detooz Films directs his best video yet for the homies J. Bre, Luck-One and Grynch. “Memories” takes a simple concept (T.R.O.Y.) and draws out a wealth of emotions with poignant images related to hip-hop, social issues and pop culture. One of the best Town videos of the year.
