“The places you get broken are the places you get strong.” – Gabriel Teodros.
GT’s new video for “Greeny Jungle” (featuring Shakiah and produced by SoulChef) is a vital entry in Seattle’s #BlackLivesMatter protest movement. From Gabe’s excellent Evidence Of Things Not Seen.
Seattle hip-hop chosen son Gabriel Teodros celebrated the release of his new full-length album, Evidence Of Things Not Seen, last night at the Columbia City Theater. The show also featured Draze, Xperience, DJ/producer EarDr.Umz, and one very special (and very famous) guest — hit the jump to find out who. Photographer Rafael Ochoaattended on behalf of 206UP.
206UP and Jae Changehave collaborated to form 28Hundred, a new media company dedicated to producing original video content and in-depth, personality-driven interviews with some of your favorite artists. Stay tuned here for the latest 28Hundred productions.
Gabriel Teodros’ music and family may take him to different cities across the globe, but he is without a doubt a Town rap fixture. 28Hundred caught up with GT in Bushwick, Brooklyn this past summer to chop it up about his music, his Ethiopian Heritage and the time 2Pac visited him in a dream. We’re also thrilled to have this video featured on the Monarch Review and Okay Africa — many thanks to the good folks at those outstanding websites!
Gabriel Teodros (MC) and SoulChef (producer) connect time zones and worldly perspectives on their new collaboration, Evidence Of Things Not Seen. Gabe recorded his lyrics in Seattle, Toronto and Quebec; and SoulChef cooked the beats in Auckland, New Zealand. See it come together live on November 6 at Columbia City Theater where GT will mark the occasion by releasing a limited-edition lyric book along with the CD. Also watch for the 28Hundred interview with Gabe, dropping tomorrow (Wed., 10/29).
Seattle’s righteous son Gabriel Teodros and New Zealand’s own SoulChef are preparing to release their album Evidence Of Things Not Seen on October 28. “Greeny Jungle” (featuring Shakiah) is fearful and optimistic in a single tranquil breath.
Ethiopian filmmaker Shimby constructed this gorgeous vignette using a 16mm camera and zero digital effects. The track, “Black Love,” is a previously released joint by Town fixture Gabriel Teodros and producer SoulChef; their Evidence of Things Not Seen is set to drop October 28. Sarah MK lends her vital vocals to this smoothed-out, sensual track.
