VIDEO: “Trillion” – HeatWave, Spaceman & Ill Chris (dir. by Oso Smooth)

It’s too early for this where I live. But I suppose it’s the right time somewhere in the world. Do they call hundred dollar bills “Benjamins” in Canada? Probably not. Ask Vancouver’s HeatWave the next time you see him. Also starring Spaceman and Ill Chris (fka Logics).

Having trouble keeping up with South Sound rhyme animal Logics and his seemingly endless musical output? Me too. DJ B-Mello makes it a little easier for listeners on APlus Collective, a best-of comp available for free over at Northwest State Of Mind. Click through to find it.

And here’s L’s most recent clip for “Serious (Remix)” (featuring Bruce Leroy and directed by Detooz Films).

Another one from the (current) hardest working music video director in Town, John Harry Baluran, otherwise known as Gfunkology. For Logics and Element this time, “Can’t See ‘Em” is a joint from Logics’ strongest effort so far, Vintage Flow.

VIDEO: “Focused” – Logics (feat. Geo & Adrian Sims)

If I were a rapper who appeared in many music videos (which I’m not and I don’t), I’d have trouble finding ways to bide my time in the background while waiting for my turn to spit. What do I do with my hands? Do they give lessons on proper rap posturing? Is it uncool to make bunny ears behind the dude who’s letting me guest shot on his track? These are the questions that would keep me up at night. Neither Geo nor Logics have these problems and this is why they are rappers and I’m not.

(By the way, “Focused” is one of my favorite local tracks of the year and I featured it on the 206UP.COM Town Movement mixtape that you have already downloaded and shared with all of your friends. Right?)

Logics’ latest project, the 9-track EP Vintage Flow, is also his best collection of tracks to date. On previous excursions this blogger found his flow clunky and forced, on Vintage however, the artist also known as Young Ghangas finds a comfortable cadence amidst seriously head-nodding production that ranges from slap-happy throwback Cali sh-t (think 808 heavy old school beats like Pac Div favors) and vintage soul samples with easily-distorted low-end. It’s a ride-worthy summer soundtrack.

“Can’t See ‘Em” is a recent drop from Logics‘ forthcoming project, Vintage Flow (hitting pavement June 6th). Classic Cali sound right here. I didn’t know Logics had beef with The Pack, so that’s noteworthy. Element on the hook, Tryfe on the beat. Bump this in the summertime.

(Shout-out to Mitch at Northwest State Of Mind, where I caught this.)
