The New Year will find the release of Dave B’s The Doughnuts EP, the follow-up to one of 206UP’s favorite rookie albums from last year, The Coffee EP. We like coffee and doughnuts. Dave is playing his cards right.
“Cigarettes” was produced by Kuddie Fresh of Tha Bizness and draws parallels between beautiful vices.
It’s been a minute since the brothers Parker have dropped heat together (remember this one?). Real life got in the way of the team for a bit, but the duo is reunited for the track and accompanying video “Ron Burgundy”, in which the brothers recreate the penultimate fight scene from the eponymous movie. The Parker Report is coming later this year featuring production by Kuddie Fresh and Tha Bizness.
Production collective, Tha Bizness recently unveiled their newest artist: an emcee by the name of Parker. His debut video for the single “Sky Music” is a nice soliloquy on making it in the industry. Born in the East and raised in the West, Parker has deep ties to the SEA but currently makes moves in the ATL — sound familiar, don’t it?
Dude has a nice rugged flow that’s reminiscent of other East Coast hardrocks, but on “Sky Music” he’s on a chilled-out vibe that registers classic West Coast nonchalance. Parker reminds me a bit of Fatal Lucciauno but without the prophetic thug doctrine. Definitely a promising artist to watch.
This is how I prefer my Drake: in small doses over mid-tempo, R&B-inflected grooves. The much-traveled “Love & Gunz” (produced by Tha Bizness) now sees the light of day with a new title (“Overdose”) and the lovely Choklate providing the majority of the emotional heft. Drake-onian style emo-rap is better with real singing talent to back it up. Click here for the download link.
