From the Sportn’ Life camp, SK’s Late Arrival Mixtape. Mr. Press Release says:
The Mixtape: Sportn’ Life Records recording artist SK has delivered his debut project, the “Late Arrival” Mixtape. This mixtape consists of all original material from some of SK’s earlier recordings. Blended together by DJ Swervewon, the mixtape serves as the perfect warm up before the release of his official EP “When the Dust Settles” later this year. SK has decided to release the project for free download in exchange for an email address exclusively on his Bandcamp page.
Taking a cue from Town brethren like Macklemore and Blue Scholars, Gabriel Teodros is asking the fans to help fund the production of his new full-length album, Colored People’s Time Machine, via the IndieGoGo fundraising platform.
Here’s how his campaign tells it:
“Community activist and hip hop pathfinder Gabriel Teodros stands poised to turn the clock backwards to reach the future. His sophomore solo effort, ‘Colored People’s Time Machine’, is an examination of the history, dreams and future of native people everywhere. Who says today’s youth is lost? Perhaps the most impressive thing about Brothers From Another, the SEA duo comprised of Breez and Goonstar, is how relatively calm and collected they seem compared to their other similarly-aged counterparts in the rap game. I caught BFA opening for Blue Scholars a few weeks ago at Neumos and their charming and energetic performance to a packed house seemed like second nature to them. This new clip for “Beeba Vision Part II” catches them doing what they do best: rapping with a breezy nonchalance, with styles rooted in a simple yet classic brand of hip-hop. Even brighter things are on the horizon for this crew.

New joint from J. Bre, dude with the expert throwback flow as displayed on 2010’s Street Signs. He has a new EP dropping in late July, so watch for that. Former TrackMeet contestant Carl Roe shows up on “Stunt Man” to lend his fast rap expertise, too.

The homie Antbeezy dropped his first mixtape project yesterday. Aside from being the tallest Filipino you will probably ever meet in your life (dude is 6’4″!), this young ‘un shows promising heart and hustle. His high-pitched, rapid-fire flow has come a long way since he first hit me up on the blog back in October ’09. The Becoming features a nice set of guest bars from Sol and Brothers From Another.

Kind of like when I had to deal when my parents insisted on watching Peter, Paul and Mary on PBS in the 80’s. (Although “Puff The Magic Dragon” was truly some ill sh-t.)
