And I only know that because he got a shout out in the Source during the Benzino days, which were also the years where the Source was the only taste maker my tween self followed/knew of and so everything I listened to in middle school, such as Coo Coo Cal, Lil Zane, and Choc’s “Light It Up” (which was not worthy of any butane) found consistent burn on burned CDs in my Discman

For lil’ heads like us who didn’t really know, I imagine The Source was kind of like Catholic School. I never went to Catholic School, but I do know a large segment of my early twenties was spent trying to de-program my Source-informed hip-hop sensibilities.
