NEW MUSIC: Trances With Wolves: The Prixtape – Nacho Picasso

Nacho Picasso - Trances with Wolves The Prixtape

Well now that 206UP’s Best Seattle Hip Hop Albums of 2013 have made the rounds, we can get back to the regularly scheduled programming. If you missed my holier-than-thou lists and write-ups, scroll down for that shit or click here.

Hello, 2014. Nice to make your acquaintance.  Here’s to another slew of quality Seattle rap over the next 363 days, beginning with Nacho Picasso’s new tape Trances With Wolves. I don’t know what this sounds like yet, but I’m hoping it features some Kevin Costner ad-libs ripped straight from the eponymous (not quite) movie. NP staying active even in the newborn belly of vingt-14.

NEW MUSIC: High & Mighty – Nacho Picasso

Nacho Picasso - High & Mighty

Nacho Picasso’s highly anticipated — and I try not to use that term often — new album High & Mighty is here. Unlike his previous drops, Nacho’s recruited a grip of different producers for this one, including Seattle’s two most well-known: Jake and Vita. It makes for a more dynamic listening experience and reminds listeners like me that, yes, dude is a more well-rounded rapper than I’ve given credit for in the past. In the ongoing pissing match that is Name The Next Seattle Rapper to Blow, Nacho is probably at the top of the list.

NEW MUSIC: Vampsterdam – Nacho Picasso & Avatar Darko

Vampsterdam - Nacho Picasso & Avatar Darko

Nacho Picasso and Avatar Darko pair up for rap horror movie tryst Vampsterdam. Dig the Disney-like font and album artwork reminiscent of OG horror host mainstay Vincent Price. Shit, now I’m just dating myself. Go listen amongst yourselves.

NEW MUSIC: “Fuck Rio” – Nacho Picasso (feat. Rio)

Rio

Not that Rio. Rather a (presumably) scorned, former lover of Nacho Picasso‘s named Rio. This is dirty laundry (and dirty punchlines) aired out for your listening pleasure. If you’re into that sort of thing, anyway.

NEW MUSIC: “Vampire” – Avatar Darko & Nacho Picasso (prod. by AraabMuzik)

Vampire - Avatar Darko & Nacho Picasso

Avatar Darko and Nacho Picasso are hopping on the most popular teeny-bopper trend of the new decade: Vampire worship. Of course they’re doing it in their own special and menacing sort of way. Did you expect anything else? Vampsterdam is their upcoming collaborative album, and “Vampire” (produced by AraabMuzikget well soon, brodie) is the second advance release.
