TIME’S UP… SORRY I KEPT YOU

The thing about side hustles is that their very existence is a function of how much “side” exists for the hustler to “hustle” on. In recent months, I’ve found that “side” reducing exponentially. October and November of last year found me on a plane nearly every week, shuttling between New York City, Los Angeles and Toronto, making moves that have no relation to this website but with direct effect on the frequency and quality of posts.

The end game to all this moving around was a major lifestyle change: A permanent physical relocation from New York City to Los Angeles. For the first time in over eight years, I’m back living on the Westside (*Ice Cube voice*).

So yeah, come find me chillin’ in Little Tokyo, Koreatown or the Arts District. I’ll be the one squinting quizzically from February sun rays, looking generally out of place in winter boots and wondering why I can’t get a decent slice of pizza at two in the morning within a three block radius of, well, anywhere. I’m looking forward to it.

And start checking the site again beginning this Monday for new content. So many thanks to those of you who reached out via Twitter and email to check in and see what the fuck was up. My move is done and time’s up for slacking on the blog. Sorry I kept you.

206UP.COM’S Top 10 Blog Resolutions for 2014

C and H

And yet another list.

The ten resolutions below came to me in a vision in New York City during my walk from the A train Fulton Street stop to the corner of Wall Street, where I make my “professional” home and persist to steal time from a well-intentioned not-for-profit. (I hope my boss isn’t reading, but if so… HI!)

Failure to make good on a minimum of five of these resolutions will result in the immediate deletion of this post. You will never see it again nor will I make mention of it. (In other words: if you have any intention of using this against me, copy and paste now.)

With that, here are the Top 10 things 206UP.COM professes to accomplish in the New Year:

What’s good, loyal readers?

Just wanted to put the word out that your dude is away on vacation, thus explaining the lack of posts this week.

I’ll be back at it soon with full album Reviews of S.O.T.A.’s world-conquering debut, SuperCaliFragilisticExtraHellaDope, Dark Time Sunshine’s genre-progressing Vessel, and a whole host of other hip-hop related sundries.

Until then, one.

Special Announcement

I’m pleased to announce that I’ve further committed to filling up even more of my down time with yet another pro-bono writing endeavor.

I’ve started contributing New Music write-ups to everyone’s favorite source for independent music in Seattle: the lovely Seattle Show Gal. Which, in case you don’t already know, is a collection of music bloggers comprised of more than just one “Gal.” There are many of us “Gals,” some of whom are not even “Gals” at all, but guys. Like me.

Anyway, I’ll be cross-posting my write-ups on 206UP.COM in a futile attempt to not compete with myself (futile because SSG collects literally hundreds of thousands of hits a month, compared to my pithy few hundred). Or you can catch everything I write on SSG here.

And just a reminder, I contribute full album Reviews to the faithful hip-hop heads over at Above Ground Magazine (shout to Tyler, Dominick, et al). It’s cold in Iowa (where AGM is based), so I figured adding a little 206 fire to their midwest freezer is the least I can do. Ha.

EXPOSURE. EXPOSURE. EXPOSURE.

Now act like you know and tell a friend!
